Powder brows in Málaga: soft ombre brows that don’t wash off with your face
Powder brows (also called ombre brows or microshading) fill the brow with a soft shading of tiny dots, as if you’d defined it with brow powder, but without having to put on brow makeup every morning. Antonella does this powder brow technique at BLUSH, on its own or combined with hair strokes. The centre speaks Spanish, but we can help you in English via WhatsApp.
What are powder brows? The ombre powder brow explained
A powder brow is a cosmetic tattooing technique that places tiny pixels of pigment in the epidermis, one of the upper layers of the skin, using a tattoo machine with a very fine needle. Instead of drawing strokes, it creates a gradient: lighter at the front of the brow and more intense towards the tail, the classic ombre effect. The result is a shaded brow with fullness and definition, a powdered look like a pencil or a softly blended brow powder.
It isn’t a traditional tattoo. This cosmetic tattoo sits higher up, with gradual fading over time, which is why we call it semi-permanent make-up (PMU) and not something for life.

Powder brow vs microblading: key differences
It’s easy to confuse them because both techniques aim to improve the brow, but they don’t give the same result:
| Microblading | Powder brows | |
|---|---|---|
| How it’s done | Fine, hair-like lines made by hand with a micro blade | Tiny dots that build a shaded effect |
| Finish | Individual brow hairs, a very natural brow | A filled-in, blended brow with a soft makeup effect |
| Ideal skin type | Normal or dry | Also oily and sensitive skin |
| Approximate duration | 12 to 24 months, less on oily skin | Similar, and holds up better on oily skin |
| Price at BLUSH | €270 | €270 |
If you’d like to see how other techniques fit into this comparison, we explain it in microblading vs permanent makeup.
Which brow is right for you? How to choose the best technique
Neither technique is better in the abstract: it depends on your skin type, your brows and the look you want. Powder brows are also the most low-maintenance option. This is how we assess it at your appointment:
Choose a powder brow if…
You have oily skin or open pores, you fill in your brows with powder or pencil every day and like that finish, or you want more density without visible strokes.
Choose hair strokes if…
You have normal or dry skin, still have a fair amount of brow hair and want natural brows, just to fill gaps or add thickness.
Combine both if…
Your brows are sparse or have bald patches and you want hair strokes at the front with shading that adds body towards the tail.
Hybrid brows: combining hair strokes and a powder brow
Hybrid brows (on Booksy, Microblading + Shading) combine the best of both techniques to frame the face: strokes at the front so it looks natural and shading underneath to add volume and definition. It’s the option we recommend most if you’ve experienced hair loss, have alopecia in some areas or your brows have thinned from years of plucking. It visually refines your eyes without looking drawn on. It costs €300 and includes a personalised design. If you’re only after the strokes, we tell you all about microblading in Málaga with Antonella.
What a powder brow session at BLUSH looks like
- Design. Antonella measures your face and draws the shape in pencil. We don’t start until you love it in the mirror.
- Colour. We choose the pigment shade based on your hair and skin, so it doesn’t turn grey or reddish.
- Shading. After numbing cream, we work in layers, dot by dot, with a very fine needle, building the gradient little by little.
- Touch-up appointment. At 4-6 weeks, once healed, we correct anything patchy. After that, an annual top-up (€170) keeps the colour.
Antonella’s tip: for the first few days the brow looks darker and more defined; that’s normal. Within one or two weeks the colour will soften and you’re left with the soft powder effect we designed.
Powder brows aftercare and healed results
Powder brows heal much like microblading, but more gently: the flaking is usually finer, almost like a powder, and the “ghost” stage, when the colour seems to fade before coming back, is less noticeable. Proper aftercare makes the final result even:
- Keep the brows clean and dry, and apply only a very thin layer of the balm we give you.
- Don’t pick the flakes: let them fall off on their own.
- Avoid sweating heavily, swimming pools, the sauna and sun exposure while the brows heal.
- No brow makeup or tint until healed. Healed results show after about four weeks.
We explain each stage in microblading healing stages.
Downsides and precautions
- The finish looks more made up than strokes: if you want nobody to notice anything, a combination may suit you better.
- It needs a touch-up to look even, and the colour fades with sun and exfoliating products.
- If you have skin conditions in the area, use retinoids or are having any kind of medical treatment, check with your dermatologist first.
- It isn’t advisable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
What our clients say
“I had shading microblading on my eyebrows and lip micropigmentation at BLUSH with Antonella. I love the results! They look really natural. As it’s a long lasting treatment I was a bit nervous, but Antonella took a lot of time on the design and on the changes I asked for. The brow treatment didn’t hurt at all, and an anaesthetic cream is applied for the lips so you hardly feel anything (I even fell asleep!). Now I can go out without makeup. 100% recommended.”

Powder brows FAQs
How long do powder brows last?
As a guide, results last between one and two years. On very oily skin the colour softens sooner, which is why the annual top-up helps keep the colour.
Do powder brows hurt?
Most clients describe it as mild discomfort, similar to having their brows plucked. The work is very superficial.
How much do powder brows cost at BLUSH?
Powder brows cost €270 and hybrid brows €300. You’ll find all our rates on the prices page.
Are powder brows a type of PMU?
Yes, it’s one type of eyebrow PMU. Antonella also does lip blush and eyeliner. To learn about the other brow techniques, see our guide to eyebrow permanent makeup.
Can I wear brow makeup afterwards?
Yes, once healed. Although most clients stop filling them in: you won’t need brow powder any more.
