Lip blush in Málaga: a semi-permanent lip tattoo for natural tint and definition

Pale lips, a soft lip line or slight asymmetry, and a lipstick that has vanished by mid morning. Lip blush brings back tint and definition with a natural finish, so you don’t have to reapply every two hours. Antonella does every lip treatment herself at our beauty centre on C. Constancia 23, in central Málaga, and we can help you in English via WhatsApp.

What is lip blush? Everything you need to know about this lip tattoo

Lip blush is a semi-permanent makeup technique, a beauty term you’ll also see as lip blushing, lip tinting, PMU or “permanent lipstick”, although it isn’t permanent. It places pigment into the skin of the lips with an ultra-fine needle machine. It does two things: it adds a soft tint and it can add definition to the outline. The shade fades gradually, so the result evolves with you and is kept fresh with a top-up.

It isn’t a filler: it adds no volume. What it does is give you a crisp edge along the vermillion border and an even hue, and that makes the lips look fuller and more balanced without changing your real lip shape. It’s also ideal for people who struggle to line their lips evenly, and it can also help to cover loss of natural pigment.

Benefits of lip blush: a subtle cosmetic treatment

  • A more defined lip line, with a clean, balanced outline and better symmetry.
  • Even tone on pale lips or lips with patchy pigmentation.
  • Visually corrects small asymmetries and improves facial harmony, with no fillers.
  • Saves you the lipstick or liner every morning.
  • Survives water, the gym, the beach and your morning coffee.

Styles: from a natural lip tint to a fuller lipstick look

We choose the shape and shade with you, based on your skin tone, the natural hue of your lips and what you like to wear. It can be a soft rosy tint that enhances your natural lip, as if you simply had a healthy flush, or a more visible finish, like a sheer lipstick. Our service is Full Lips: outline and pigment across the whole lip, so you don’t get the look of a hard lip liner tattooing with an empty lip inside. Everyone’s lips are different, which is why we pre-draw before we start.

Antonella’s tip: on day one the shade looks very intense, almost like a bold lipstick. During the first week it loses a lot of intensity and then comes back up. Don’t judge it until the touch-up.

The lip blush procedure, from the first consultation

  1. Consultation and design. We look at your facial features and pre-draw the outline with you, including shape and symmetry. If you have allergies, tell us and we will consider a patch test first.
  2. Choosing the shade. We personalise it to your face and skin type, with safe, high quality pigments, for a balanced result.
  3. Numbing. The lip tissue is sensitive, so a topical anaesthetic is applied before and during the session to numb the area.
  4. Pigment. First the outline, then the tint, layer by layer. Many clients describe the feeling as scratchy rather than painful.
  5. Touch-up after 4 to 6 weeks. Once the lips have healed, we even out the tone and reinforce wherever needed.

The healing process and aftercare

It’s normal for the lips to be swollen for a day or two and then to show some flaking as the lips heal, a bit like sunburnt lips. To help the pigment settle and avoid loss of pigment:

  • Don’t pick at the flakes or tiny scabs: let them fall off on their own.
  • Apply the healing balm we recommend, with clean hands.
  • Avoid getting your lips wet for long, plus direct sun, swimming pools, the sea and the sauna during the first week.
  • Drink through a straw for the first few days and avoid very spicy or very hot food.
  • No lipstick or lip scrubs until healed.
  • Afterwards, wear an SPF lip product: on the Costa del Sol, sun is what makes the tint lighten most.

If you get cold sores (lip herpes), let us know before booking and check with your doctor or pharmacist, because tattooed lips can trigger an outbreak.

Healed results: defined lips with a natural lip tint

This is how pale lips with a soft outline change after lip blush: a fresher hue, a crisp edge and a rested look, without looking made up. We aim for natural healed results: pigment that looks like your own lips on a good day. Longevity is around two to three years.

“I had shaded microblading on my eyebrows and lip micropigmentation at BLUSH with Antonella. I love the results! They look really natural. As it’s a long lasting treatment I was a bit nervous, but Antonella took a lot of time on the design and on the changes I asked for. The brow treatment didn’t hurt at all, and an anaesthetic cream is applied for the lips so you hardly feel anything (I even fell asleep!). Now I can go out without makeup. 100% recommended.”

“I really liked Antonella’s services! I had my eyebrows done and lip pigmentation. I shower and then I don’t need to put any makeup on (like in the attached photo) 😊 She does everything brilliantly. A perfectionist, I recommend her 100%!”

Lip blush FAQs

How long does lip blush last?

As a guide, it lasts around 2 to 3 years and fades gradually. A yearly refresh keeps it vivid. Sun and lip scrubs shorten it.

Does lip blush hurt?

The lips are more sensitive than the brows, but we numb the area and most clients cope well. Some even fall asleep.

Can I choose the shade?

Yes. We choose it together based on your skin tone and the natural hue of your lips, from a discreet rosy tint to a more visible one. If you’re unsure, a softer shade is preferable: it can always be built up at the touch-up.

Who shouldn’t have lip blush?

It isn’t recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active cold sore, wounds or infection in the area, or with clotting disorders without your doctor’s approval. If you have allergies or a scar on the lip, mention it at your appointment.

Can I wear lipstick afterwards?

Yes, once healed. While healing, no lipstick or gloss. After that you can wear yours on top whenever you want a bolder look.

How long does lip blush take to heal?

The skin recovers in about 7 to 10 days; the final shade shows at 4 to 6 weeks, which is when we do the touch-up.

Shall we bring the colour back to your lips?

Book your appointment or send us a WhatsApp with a photo of your lips without makeup and we’ll suggest a shade. The centre speaks Spanish, but we can help you in English via WhatsApp (+34 684 195 381). Find us at C. Constancia 23, 29002 Málaga, Monday to Friday 10:00 to 19:00.
